    Field trip to Ben Lomond

    Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 February 2024

On this field trip to Ben Lomond you will be in the company of TMAG’s botany and zoology curators and honorary associates. We will be staying at the Northern Tasmania Alpine Club, which is warm, clean and comfortable though not luxurious, with bunkhouse accommodation. You will need to bring your own bed linen (or sleeping bag), towel and toiletries.

The meals will be professionally catered: dinner on Wednesday night, all meals on Thursday, breakfast on Friday morning before departure and snacks during the day. Please advise us of any dietary restrictions.

Alcoholic drinks are not included but you are welcome to BYO. You can get more information about the venue here, but ignore any instructions about cooking as this event will be fully catered and you do NOT need to bring any food with you.

During daylight hours we will have short walks to explore the alpine habitat, and in the evenings the scientists will give presentations about their studies. This is a wonderful opportunity to see a unique landscape through the eyes of TMAG’s natural science curators.

Transport is not included: you’ll need to make your own way to Ben Lomond. Car pooling is a good idea. You will need to have a valid Parks Pass (per vehicle containing up to 8 people), available online here.

Members $300, non-members $335includes accommodation for two nights, all meals/snacks as outlined above, and a levy to cover the costs of the scientists attending.
